#1 Mixed gauges ?

Post by Durango2k » Sun Jun 19, 2016 10:59 pm

Today Felix swapped all the lightbulbs on the instruments for me. We then found different brightness, and a short look revealed 3 blue and a green one !

The two large ones are both green, so why the heck would someone have swapped the minor instruments except the ammeter for earlier, 3.8 ?, versions ???

The look like they have been factory fitted - any way I could possibly tell ?

What next ?

The gauges were usually dated with a pencil mark on the case. The 3.8's had all blue tinted gauge lights, the 4.2's had green tinted. The Factory would not have mixed them

I will look carefully for pencil marks or stampings, then.

However, if someone wants to swap - these are in good condition.

Really strange, what you find on these cars...maybe someone had swapped it when he tried to restore it in the late 70s. It ended with alloy tin foil on sills slapped over with bondo, unpainted
