Hi

I got replacement torsion bar shields and a LH mudshield as mine were all missing. From the parts catalogue there are meant to be rubber strips along one side of each of them. I have the rubber, I just can't see how to attach it to the shields. The wheel arch rubbers are riveted with the strips, but these I can't work out.

Any pictures anyone or guide?

Also, the handbrake lever aperture seal BD20469. It goes on the underside of the console, but no obvious way of attaching. simply glued?

I thought I was the only person in the world with torsion bar shields!

From memory and paleontological examination of my original shields there was a strip of what actually looked like braided cotton military harness webbing maybe 2" wide that goes between the shield and the engine frame it's fixed to. I think the idea was to stop it rattling.

I never fitted any replacement. The shields rattle annoyingly.

WRT the handbrake rubber; yes it is glued on. It will therefore fall off later.

Mark,

it wasn't rubber, it's a woven/braided textil band. I believe mine to still be original (but dirty) at least they are there. Doing stuff on the front end I took my shields off and cleaned them, I think the bands were glued to the shields bur are also held somewhat by the brackets as well. See in the pic upper right corner. My shields were bent, I straightened them out before reassembly, the pic is before work done.

Mark,

I found another picture of the original band. A bit dark, look closely. The bottom textil band is what I sourced as a substitute for one side.
