#1 Different heights of my left and right brake reservoirs

Post by ETTony » Sun Aug 07, 2016 6:46 pm

Lads, I have been pondering this for a few days now and have not come to a conclusion.
Nearly finished my LHD to RHD conversion.

Now the brake reservoir for the servo slave remains on the Left, I have put it on the heater bracket.
The brake master cylinder reservoir moves to the Right, on the bulkhead.

There is a difference in height of 5"
Q. over time does the fluid flow down to the lower reservoir and overflow ?

Tony, your bottle should be mounted on a bracket attached to the brake pedal blanking plate. You need to get the bottle mounted as high as possible as they can over flow. We had one car where this happenend (the rh bottle was higher than the lh) and we put it down to a seal relaxing in the new servo allowing fluid to bypass. Add capilliary action and you have an overflow.

Excellent info there, thanks.
I will do as you suggest and raise the LH reservoir.

Thanks

I don't think it is likely to be a problem.
