#1 Indicator strip: vertical clearance ?

Post by Durango2k » Sun Aug 28, 2016 12:53 pm

...how much clearance do I need for proper operation of the electric centre dash panel ?

I only get maybe 1/2 inch, and thats way not enough.

What can I do - is there a fix for this ?

The quick way to get some extra clearance is to make the legend strip under the panel removeable by replacing the screws with small thumb screws as described by Heuer in this thread (read down to the bottom of the first page).

I did this and it works well.

Beyond that, it's about thinning down sound deadening and carpeting on top of the tunnel console, or even making alterations to the sheet metal of the tunnel centre console, to allow the radio console to swing down a bit lower.
