...yes it is possible, and it saves you 40 quid.
Simple: put valve in clamps on workbench, tighten gently to hold but but not break it.
Leaver it open using a screwdriver. Yes, some of the vanes clamping it together may partly break of. Thats life.
Take it apart. It's amazing : inside is just a rubber and a thin spring. Clean it all up, and fit the spring on it's small 3 foot stand on the base plate.
Smear the outer edges of both halves with very thin silicone sealant, I use Dirko RED.
Put rubber back in base, gently press it on the silicone beading. It will stay there, the spring is very weak and the rubber has a centre cutout.
Put top back on base, use a small hammer (YES !) and dang it back into its place. It will snap down and be a bit loose. No wonder.
Open the vice and clamp it overnight or so to let the silicone cure.
I gave it a blow / suck test whilst it was in the vice, and it worked 100%.
When I opened it, the spring was a bit disloged, the top/base was loose, the rubber dirty with oxide powder.
Again, 40 Euros saved. And another factory original correct part back in the car.

#2 Re: Repairing a Vac gulp valve
The gulp valve is fitted to V12 emissions cars with air injection, not your mid sixties XK engine. What part are you talking about?

The 3-way valve on top of the brake reservac....mine is the non-screwed-on version, it sits remote-mounted by about 2 inches on a short hose.
Access is a bit limited under the carbs, remove the air filter (marmelade bin) to get there easier.
