#1 Any idea what's going on here?

Some advice please.

I am trying to remove the switch panel from series my 2 to repair / replace some of the switches. I have removed the four retuning screws but it won't budge because there is a piece of metal and a dollop of glue holding it in place - see photo.

Any idea why this would have been glued in place - possibly a broken switch?

Thanks

Ian

Probably the plastic mounting panel for the switches broken. You can buy new from SNG.

A previous "fix" with araldite. If you plan on replacement then a certain amount of chiseling to prize out the old one may be needed.

Thanks Angus and Julian

Should the switches come out without removing the mounting panel?

From what I can see the switch is fine, it is the end of the slot that the switch sits in has broken and a bit of what looks like metal has been glued in. It looks like you can remove the switch by pressing in the tabs at the ends of the switch and pushing it out through the front of the panel, after removing the wire connections. Then again I could be wrong

I reckon Tony is right. Glue is not on the switch so it should pop out if the tab is pushed in far enough.
