#1 Gear box cover removal

Post by Ian Cooke » Wed Dec 14, 2016 8:47 pm

I'm in the process of replacing carpets and harduras and at the same time am planning on replacing the insulating pad under the gearbox cover as, from the little that I see, it looks to be very worn.

Any hints or tips on removing and replacing the gearbox cover and how best to reseal it?

Many thanks

Ian

Hi Ian.....the foam under the cover...you can use some of the blue upholstery foam....its fire retardant and much cheaoer than buying one from the usual suppliers.......when you replace the cover make sure its pushed down as far as possible...so the center consol then sits low...itsone of the reasons that the dropdown switch panel dosnt drop fully when u try to open it....re sealing i just used black roof type sealer i had in the garage....does the job...dosnt smell
