Barrie

Thanks for the info, I was unaware of the change during flat floor production-every day is a school day as the saying goes :salute:

Checking XKE data for engine numbers shows that this change occurred very close to my car's build date.
I need to do a return visit soon to get the engine number to confirm the actual age of the car.
To be fair the dash panels are lying in the car and not actually mounted on the dashboard so who knows if they're original or not.
The original bonnet is still in the garage and may be have outside bonnet locks although the replacement on the car definitely doesn't.

Hello Alan - shows what a great resource for info we have on this forum - we all learn something - that's what makes it interesting.

£30K seems less than market value for a promising project but market values are very silly at the moment. I've been struggling to find anything like that near that price. The auctioneers would spray it with dust and sell it for over £50K.

If it’s a RHD 61 in that conditions it’s worth £70k+

If it really was a RHD OBL FHC in that condition it would be well over £100k I think

And if it’s a 62-64 then it’s still £60k+

The multipiece / early linkage type was continued almost 1400 cars after the OBL cars.

AND there is no RHD OBL FHC left to be found. All 4 built ones are known. And if it were one, the value should exceed 500k GBP

No RHD OBL FHC left to be unveiled. All 4 built ones are known.
And if it were one, it probably would be worth above 500k GBP (see 860002 for the offer for that car)

If this is an early car it might be Imperial Maroon rather than Opalescent Maroon.

Next time you visit have a look at the dash panels because they usually have the body number crayoned on them. They might not be original to that particular car but you'll know whether they are original if they do have something on them. It might be quite revealing.
