#1 Fitting the fuel tank

Post by gmunro » Mon Mar 06, 2023 8:00 pm

Hi Gents,

I cannot find information of how the fuel tank mounting bracket and its associated reinforcement plate are actually fitted to a S1 OTS. It is obvious that the mounting bracket is fitted inside the boot but what about the reinforcing plate? Is it fitted inside the boot or is it fitted outside?

So grateful for advice and guidance as always.

Yours aye,

It’s fitted outside to support the panel.
Easier if your rear cage is out otherwise slide your hand up .

Tim

From memory, fit the bracket after the tank is in place.

( it’s a fun job ! )
Series 1 FHC purchased 50 years ago. Courted my wife in it.
Series 1 2+2 when the kids were small now sold.
Series 1.5 OTS in opalescent maroon, Californian car. My retirement present.

Hi Tim,

That's what I thought so thanks very much for the confirmation. Fortunately the cage is out so it should be straight forward enough ......... after the fight to get the tank in first!

Yours aye, :thankyouyellow:
