#1 Series 1 OTS boot seal

Post by Mont » Thu Aug 14, 2025 11:00 am

Can somebody tell me the date when the the rubber boot seal changed from the lid to the body.
My car was built 21st Sept 1961 OTS chassis 850166 just wondering if mine should be on the lid.

According to the SPC the body mounted seal was used on the 4.2 cars. The 3.8 cars had the seal on the boot lid.

According to 'Original Jaguar E-Type' McKay pg38 it was around Oct 61 850218/875779 when the boot hinges changed

Both on our car and 881640 in "Factory Fit", later 3.8 OTS appeared to have the boot lid seal on the body rather than the lid
