Header tank overflow hose routing

I've just got my new aluminium header tank to replace the rusted out original. When I got the car, there was no small hose from the nipple on the filled neck. My replacement hose set has the hose - where should it route? I presume not just vents and doesn't connect to anything?

In the Series 1 Factory Fit 4.2 section, there are three pictures I’ve seen, all slightly different placed on original cars. All seem loosely fitted.
