I noticed that my JDHT certificate specifies:
Original Distributor: Jaguar Cars, New York, USA
Original Dealer: Personal Export Delivery
First Owner: Mr Rice
Registration Mark: 6826WK ((which was issued at Coventry)
Does it mean that Mr Rice ordered the car in the US, came over to Coventry to pick up the car himself and drove it for a while and then exported it to the US personally?
Would it mean he was US military?
I need to write something about the car, as Krakow has a clean transport zone since January 1st and I have to apply for a historical car status in order to drive the car into the city. This requires presenting known car history.

#2 Re: registration mark 6826WK noted on Certificate
The 'Personal Export Scheme' allowed the car to be used in the UK for up to 12 months without paying purchase tax so long as it was exported after that. I guess that helped sell cars to visitors from the US - they could drive the car while they were in the UK or Europe then ship it home when they returned to the US.
I think Jaguar Cars, New York, USA was the only dealer that showed up in the Heritage Certificates. Mine was supplied to California and also has New York on the Heritage Certificate. I think it just means Jaguar not the dealer who later sold the car. I guess it means Jaguar helped with the import to the US.
Internet is worth an ask. Might be AI nonsense but it suggests a US serviceman may have collected the car from Coventry and later returned with it to the US:

Why this points to a Serviceman
If an American bought a car in the UK in the 1960s with a standard Coventry (WK) plate:
Direct Factory Purchase: They likely utilized a military sales program (like the Chrysler/Rootes military sales) that allowed them to pick up the car directly from the factory in Coventry
.
Standard Appearance: Under NATO agreements, servicemen were often issued standard-looking plates to avoid being easily identified as "export" vehicles while driving in the UK or on the continent, whereas civilians were more strictly regulated with visible export markings.
In summary, a 6826WK plate suggests the car was a factory delivery in Coventry
, a practice almost exclusively associated with US military personnel taking advantage of tax-free export schemes while serving abroad.

Thanks!
I wonder if Mr Rice was with the military would then any personel records be publically available in the US..
