Halogen light conversion

Has anyone made the Halogen light conversion to a series 1 , If so I would apreciate any advise on exactly what parts are required for the conversion and overall how much of an improvement has it been

You can easily fit H4 Halogen bulbs unless you have the original Lucas PL reflectors although if you also intend to run high wattage ones you might want to consider adding some relay's. e.g. http://www.ringautomotive.co.uk/product ... ?prod=2423

The light output is still poor because of the S1 headlamp cowls so they are still not suitable for high performance night driving. I have Halogen H4's (can't remember which) but they are pretty useless compared to those of a modern car. OK for use in the rain but an E-Type should be back in the garage before nightfall if driven on anything other than motorways or well lit A roads.

Avoid any kit or company that suggests fitting HID lights as the E-Type's reflectors are not suitable, the lack of self levelling will make for an MOT failure and they are illegal on this car..

Halogen conversion? I just fitted short nosed halogens and changed the plug that's the only conversion I did.
I have the PL reflectors which is why I went for the short nosed halogen bulbs. In the UK the short nosed ones cost about ?25 but Mike Frank of Coolcat (USA) sell them for about ?10 a set, which is great if you know someone who goes to the States regularly and can bring them back.

I found the performance of the halogens nothing short of fantastic compared to the original bulbs and equally as good as my 17 year old Astra.
