#1 Jacking Points for Shelley Jack
Have been meaning to ask this for ages - the jacking point on the cills for the Shelley jack - mine are non existent presumably not refitted when cills replaced.
Would appreciate dimension on the cill, dimensions of the cup, thickness of steel used...[/b]

Hi,
On my '63 FHC jacking points are square upturned cups fixed to the edge of the floor under the stiffener, not part of the cill. Guess 16swg and just big enough to accept the square top of the jack, and about 1/4 inch deep. Mine has now the later Metallifacture screw jack but originally a 3 section bottle probably Shelley.
Original jack lost in the 1970's,

When you say stiffener do you mean in the channel for the seat mounts or the cross chassis rail?
Can you tell what the method of fixing might be?

Jaguar stopped using the Shelley jack in mid 1962 so the Metallifacture is correct for a 1963 car.ochryfoel wrote: Mine has now the later Metallifacture screw jack but originally a 3 section bottle probably Shelley.

Hi Richard,
It's directly under the end of the cross rail at the strongest point. I recently replaced the outer 9 inches of the floors and the cills (Robey). I was very careful to copy the original and only replaced rusty metal. The jack cups came pre welded on with the Robey floors (I cut them and only used the part I needed)
The originals were also spot welded to the floor with the outer cill lower edge tucked under the outer edge of the over lapping jacking cup. Then a few tack welds.
The outer old floor and cills were well perforated. Robey's new ones were exactly the same except a variety of seat runner holes for 3.8 and 4.2 series 1 .

Hi David,
My 63 did have a bottle jack when I bought it late 1969,
But it was somewhat unstable so got a later one( Metallifacture) and the bottle got lost!. The top of both jacks was a square lump that fitted into the square jacking point cup.

Hope these help. Sorry for the bad focus. It's hard to hold the iPhone, the tape measure and the floor panel all at the same time! You can click on them to view full size versions.
This is a RHS rear floor from SNGB (I assume Robey). I tried to get you enough to replicate it if you're so inclined.
The first two pictures show how far from the back of the floor panel the jack point is welded to the floor. Looks like exactly 23 inches.
