#1 Cam Covers ...help please

Post by Garybreadner » Tue Jan 27, 2015 1:08 pm

The cam covers on my 1966 FHC are not in great shape and have been bodged with some gunk around the nut apertures, they also weep oil. I've been offered some second hand replacements but apparently they have two variants. As I'm reluctant to take mine off would anyone be able to clarify what I have fitted? On the semi circular shape at the bulkhead end of the cam cover variant one has a lip machined in whereas variant two doesn't. Question is which one do I need !
As always many thanks for any advise.

Here's a picture of my pair of covers. Year of manufacture 1966. No lips, just smooth.

Hi David, just to make sure on your photo could you tell me which side of the engine each of these fit.
Thank you very much for the help!

The little one is the LHS i.e. exhaust side / oil cap
The big one is the RHS i.e. tacho generator side / inlet side
