#1 bumper fitting

Post by DAVID.XK » Tue May 19, 2015 12:32 pm

Hello, Having re chromed my bumpers over the winter, I am now in the process of refitting them. Yes I should have taken more notes!
The front left was always a little' droopy' which seems common on E types, and I would like to get that corrected. The rears are ok other than the overriders which now look slightly out from vertical and point outwards more than I recall. The stickies have been useful but do not fully show how they all should be aligned.
Can anyone point me to a post or topic covering the fitting and aligning of S1 bumpers, and do these wedges vary in thickness as the various stamping so suggest?

Hi - those are not E-type bumper washers. Look online at SNG Barratt for the correct ones.

Thank you Barrie. Don't you just love the 1980's restorations, that'll,explain a few things! I'd still like to find more tips on fitting up in case I need to order more corrected parts.

Checked the parts book (plate 38 ) and I could not find those washers right away, found something interesting though, part# BD10313.

No wonder my seals never stick to the bumper, Jaguar used clips to secure them. Anyone have a photo of a bumper with clips installed?

Found a parts diagram though, #32 is the clip, #30 is the washer I remember from installing bumpers in my '61.

You can actually buy a complete bolt and spacer kit for front and rear at SNG, and its cheap.

Numbers are BBK15 and BBK16.

I know. I am waiting for it myself, i could only get the rear bolt and spacer kit.

But my front end is still a year ago, so I can wait...
