Hi again,
Got an MOT on 885785 recently and hurriedly sent all the paperwork off to try to get it road legal. One mistake was to omit the fee of £55 but they are now saying the Jaguar Heritage Certificate must be accompanied by an inspection report from either the JEC or JDC.
Is this ignorance on their part in that they should say an appropriate club or do they really mean it?
Are there members in the club who can help with an inspection and of what?
I did have an old Citroen Traction inspected at the local DVLA office when transferring a number a few years ago but now these have all closed.
Can this be done with photographs or do they mean physical inspection?
HELP!!!
I had arranged to trailer car to the trimmer over the weekend to try to get it completed.
I will have 2 Saab Sonetts to register soon as well so this is just the start of my problems.
All suggestions on a post card please.
Cheers, George

George : have a word with Keith Vincent of the JEC who deals with these matters regularly. If you look in their magazine or on their website his contact details are available
Edit : His number is 01962 884088 evenings only , or keith.vincent@uwclub.net
If you are not a member you had better agree to join if you get good advice from him !!

Thanks Chris,
have made E mail contact and it seems he can help for a small fee and it can be done with pictures. I can't help but feel if the car was inspected for its MOT and I have the certificate from Jaguar Heritage that a letter from a club is a bit over the top. They know it exists and they know its age from the certificate as chassis numbers were checked at the time.

Hi,
Excellent advice from Chris, and I am now just waiting for the letter from the JEC chap. I sent a scan of the original chassis plate which I have not refitted and that seemed to be a clincher and no inspection.

Car now successfully registered and has been given a number. Is there any advice on getting correct looking number plates both rear and the adhesive front one and its ultimate position? Obviously black and white for 1962 but any preferred suppliers etc? Can they pre stick the white numbers on the black front plate to get correct spacing?
Regards, George

Hi George,
Try Framptons for your number plates, they are pretty good at matching what you need.
The front number plate is the hardest to position correctly so do a search on the forum and you will find the answers.
