#1 Headlining cleaning

Post by marsh » Fri Nov 25, 2016 4:15 pm

Afternoon everyone,

I need to clean a couple of light dirt marks from my headlining.

The drivers' handbook suggests methylated spirits on a white cloth as the ideal cleaning method, but before I go down this route, it there a less aggressive alternative? Would soapy water do it?

I thought I'd better ask before I make an error of judgement...

Hi Lee....if i were you i would give one of the trimming firms a call and ask them......has your headining been replaced as there are different materials that can be use so i assume different cleaning methods....try BAS of Aldridge or Skinners

Hi Marsh

I think I would be inclined to react according to what has caused the marks i.e. oil based? water based? etc as the solution should match the cause?

Thank you gentlemen, it looks to be dirt, rather than oil.

The headlining has absolutely been replaced and appears to be wool based...

and having a 7 year old son means that baby wipes are rarely unavailable in this house!

I'll put one to good use tomorrow in the 'E'...
