Hi Tony

Does your car have the standard brake master cylinder and Kelsey Hayes servo arrangement? If so, then the reservoirs feed fluid to the nose of each cylinder via a 1/4" pipe. The fittings should be BSP so you need 1/4" BSP male fittings for which you will need a 1/2" A/F spanner. These are bigger than the brake lines on the rest of the car, which are 3/16" and use smaller fittings and require the use of a 7/16" spanner.

Automec sell everything you could need and should be able to advise you well. I bought my brake pipe kit from them, which included the pipes and fittings you are referring to. You might pay a bit more than ordering from Amazon but you will get the right parts and at a good quality. I have no affiliation with them.

Good luck.
Stuart

Hi everyone and thank you for getting back to me. When I looked closer at my fitting one of the threads we a little bit crossed so I file it back to shape and it fitted like a glove.
So have I cured the original problem of my brakes sticking on.

Job 1. Adjust the length of piston rod. Did not work (1/16 inch play.)
Job 2. Change the fluid. Did not work
Job 3. Replaced the seals in both master cylinders. It seems to have worked but I have only done about 10miles. It would normally have locked up by then. So hopefully it is resolved. I will let you know.
I could not see any ware or damage to the old seals that would have caused the problem but as long as it had worked I will be happy.
Thanks again for all the advise. After about 15 years on this site you think I would be capable of giving advise but to be fair the car has not given me that much trouble to learn much.

Next job, the crank oil bearing seal. I fancy having a lip seal done. How much would that cost.

Just to close this post the car has now done over 50 miles without the brakes sticking on. So declaring this issue solved by changing the master cylinder seals. So thank you everybody 👍

Can confirm, if a little late, that the threads for the high-pressure circuits are 3/8 UNF, and those for the feed pipes from the fluid reservoirs are 7/16 UNF.
