I have the opportunity maybe to buy a 64 3.8 OTS. Plenty of rust. A "logistics" question. A fully stripped tub, no doors or rear lid or glass or anything, what does it weigh? Can two men lift it onto a trailer for transport?

While not certain about the weight, I would conjecture about 300lbs, ~135kg. I once bought a completely stripped tub (no doors, no hatch, no glass, no interior) and two of us were able to load/unload from a flatbed truck. Was more sliding up/down wood ramps than a dead lift, but we managed.

Thanks all

Just bought a 64 3.8 OTS project. I'm sure I can do the second one in a more efficient way than the first.

Will get back with details and for sure, questions

Yes, the term "self inflicted wound" comes to mind. Weirdest thing, I look forward to it. Most of it...

My first E-Type, the blue FHC shown here, I had never done an E-Type or worked on one, the seller had taken it apart, I bought it in boxes. There were maybe 50 parts included that I had no idea what was and where it should be installed. Now I know. And since I'm taking this apart myself, I can note early, what needs to be sandblasted and black, sandblasted and silver, rechromed, replaced etc etc. So I think I can shave a year off. That said, I'm not in hurry, this is retirement entertainment for me. I do all the work myself, except paint. I can do engines and rust and whatever. I can also paint, I've painted 8 of my cars over the years, but I don't have a place to do it anymore, but I have a friend that's a profesiional painter, and of course he's better than me, so he paints for me...

Unfortunately it does mean that the blue FHC will be put up for sale, I will drive to a few local Jaguar arrangements this summer, and then it will be advertised for sale

As you can see in my Avatar, I have a new project. Unfortunately the economic reality of that is that after having some fun in it this summer, my 63 FHC seen at the top will be for sale. Any advice on where to advertise it? I know mobile.de, any UK or EU wide big sites I should use? American even? Does it btw make any sense to advertise this LHD in the UK?

Thanks

As Geoff said, Car and Classic is an excellent place to advertise your car. It has international reach too. A bonus is that there are no fees to pay for a private classified listing.

You can upload lots of photos and give a very detailed description too. You can also subsequently list it as an online auction item if you struggle to sell it.

I sold my Land Rover last year very painlessly there and never got a single spam message or time waster although some people message you and don't bother to acknowledge your reply. That seems to be the way people are these days, at least here in the UK.

Good luck with your sale.

Regards
Stuart
