I have just bought a early Series 1 jack like the one Mark has, and the seller informed me that only the later jacks had date stamps on them??.
Has anyone had a jack refurbished at all?, if so by whom?

Jack turned up just fine, all very clean and smart, think it's a modern one though, the paint is rather new, colour looks right and the name stamping is correct looking, but doesn't appear to have been used however

Hello Jimmy,
Thanks for the information. I will definitely bid on that jack even if it is not for a flatfloor car as quoted in the ebay add. But it is the correct one for a 1963 E-Type FHC...
All flatfloors came with a Shelley LJ225 screw-type jack. This is listed in the Thomas F. Haddock original guide and also according to http://www.mgaroadster.co.uk/shelley_jacks.htm, which has a lot of interesting information on the Shelley jacks in general (not only for Jaguar E-type)
Just if someone might be interested, flatfloors changed at:
850526/7
860580/1
877355/6
886092/3
whereby the shelley jack was replaced with the cantilever type from metalifacture a little bit later at:
850548/9
860660/1
877518/9
886246/7
Many thanks again!
Regards
Stefan

Damn,
Auction has been terminated....
So I am now and still looking for a jack with the attached handle as visible in the link: http://www.ebay.de/itm/140648202226?ssP ... 1438.l2649
If someone has one and would give it away or know someone, who has and would, I would be very grateful if you contact me (wagstefan (at) yahoo.de).
Ahhh, only the handle and the part to stop the handle to come off the jack would also be sufficient as I have an incomplete one (the jack plus the "ring" on which the handle slides - sorry, I cannot express it better, cannot think about a better description......)
Thank you very much in advance!
Best regards
Stefan

Hi,daverawle wrote:I suspect we are looking for the 'correct' jack but for anyone just interested in changing the wheel it's easy to convert the incorrect one.....
Dave
Does anyone know where I can obtain a replacement swivel as per that pictured in Dave's post above ?
I found one in the US here.....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/0582-Jaguar-X ... 337f220c0d
.....but I was rather hoping to find one in the UK for a better price.
Failing that I may have to manufacture one although I doubt I'll ever find the time given I'm still doing my IRS rebuild.
Regards,
Neil
