Yes, that may be a problem.. but the '64 Mark X sump seem to have a recess in it (the engine is a 3.8 ). Have something to check tomorrow then.

The Mark X suction pipe's intake is much further in the rear and somewhat deeper down in the pan, that is what made the contact with the sump.

Will measure the recess in the markx X pan tomorrow, these images are from the Mark X 3.8 service Manual.

Yes they may have standardised at some point on the rubber seal in a groove rather than the narrow 3.8 cork on a flat surface. Only way is to offer it up. Obviously the pick-up and I assume the filter housing return will need changing to suit an E-type. Probably the whole filter block.

Engine stamped 21 May 1963 and the recess is 0.1 depth & 0.5 width in the Mark X pan as well as the repro.

Anyway, I suppose Chesman will be able to deliver the pan without recess for the needy.
