Think you will find that the Restriction on the use of hazardous substances (ROHS) and very possibly other directives prohibit the use of cadmium in most industries now. Aviation has an exemption...for now.

I suspect this means cadmium plating is now now not possible...unless you can find someone who is willing to...ahem.... Bend a rule. As the only ones who can Cd plate will be aerospace companies rule bending is very unlikely. If they get caught.....bad s**t happens.

Has to be said that cadmium is extremely toxic and while the plating on your car parts poses little or no risk to you, the plating process and solutions do pose a risk to both the plating employees and to the environmnt, so maybe one process that, in restoring a car, should be consigned to history?

Hello Cactusman

I cannot find anyone who will do it so I am going for zinc as this is the next best thing
