Actually, no need to strip dow the engine to see the engine number on the flywheel, at least on a 3.8.
You have just to be lucky and have the flywheel rotated as it needs to be
Very true!! You will now have many people attempting to spot their flywheel number!!!

Low Pressure Hoses

All cars were fitted with yellow stripe rubber hoses for brake and clutch fluid from the Factory. Yellow stripe hoses were a UK industry standard to show they were compatible with hydraulic fluid.

Hoses with a white stripe were used for connecting the heater box. The white stripe denoted they were glycol resistant. Original hoses with white faded to cream with age:

You can recreate with yellow and white rubber paint or buy new from specialist classic car racing shops if you can find the correct size.

Dunlop Brake Servo

The Dunlop Brake Servo C.17266 was fitted to the 3.8 cars from November 1961 onwards. Cars produced before this date were fitted with the Kelsey-Hayes servo. All Dunlop servo's arrived at Jaguar fully assembled, pressure tested and stamped 'PT' (Pressure Tested) in yellow on the front plate. There appears to be no standard location as long as the markings were visible.

It appears the stamp was made from hard rubber and dipped in yellow paint or ink before being applied, without too much care, to the face plate.

I do not know of any vendor who supplies the stamp but there are many companies who can cut a custom stamp using the above examples for about £25. Some also include automatic ink stamping in a choice of colours.

Rubber Caps - Remote Control for Odometer C.15468 and Clock C.17487?

On the S1 2+2 cars the remote control assemblies for the odometer and clock were supplied by Smiths MA (Motor Accessories) and had a grooved rubber/plastic cover over the brass knurled knob. There are no separate part numbers for the covers. This is because the adjusters are located in full view rather than under dash.

Dimensions in inches:

So ~ 5/8" x 7/16"

The S2 and S3 cars had a rubber cover on the odometer remote control.

I have updated the post on seat belts to include the changes made to the attachment points between January 1962 and July 1967: viewtopic.php?p=150039#p150039

In doing so I found that BRITAX initially supplied a very different belt for the OTS which allowed it to be dismounted from the rear attachment point to facilitate the raising and lowering of the hood. The BRITAX belts originally supplied from January 1962 had one latch hook fixing, a hexagon bolt fixing and a keyhole plate at the rear for easy removal of the attachment plate for raising and lowering the hood; they only had one snap hook as the tunnel anchorage used a hex bolt. These belts had part number BD.31593. They were later changed to belts with standard non-removable plates and two latch hooks as used on the FHC with part number 9212 probably from April 1962 This is an extract from the Jaguar installation instructions:

Some help needed!

Has anyone seen an example of these belts or have photos?
Does anyone have Service Bulletin N14 dated April 1962 (first issue rather than the March 1963 issue)?
