#1 Gearbox mount mystery tab

Hello All,
I'm a relatively new member to the forum. I've been doing a lot of lurking but this is my first post. I'm restoring a '66 4.2L FHC that my father and I purchased in 1979. It has been garaged basically since then and I'm going through all systems. I've removed the rear gearbox/engine mount (using the progressively lager bolt method suggested by someone on this forum... many thanks!) and found screwed to the base plate a tab about 3/4'' by 3.5'' with two rivets attached to it. What is a mystery is what was attached to those rivets. I can't find any mention in the shop manual or spare parts guide, nor on any image on the web. Can anyone help me out? I've attempted to attach a photo so hopefully it shows up.
