Hi all, I know I could remove this part and have a look at whats is made of but thought I'd ask first.
At the top of the screen the 3" ish strip above and just before the headlining that the rear view mirror is attached to.
What is this made of, I suspect and hope wood as I would like to fit two sun visors. After this great weather we have had and driving just before the sun goes down, visibility is difficult.
Barretts do a set of visors and brackets so was tempted.
Anyone fitted a set ?
Regards Keith
Also had a small but disturbing smell of fuel in the cockpit, found the gasket on top of the fuel tank leaking when the tank was just filled up. Solved easy enough but my car had the horse hair sound proofing glued to everything, that had fuel on it, now that's gone it don't smell

The part you refer to is a steel pressing, covered in headlining material.
I am surprised your car doesn't have sun visors fitted. I'm pretty sure they were standard fitments.
If you remove the panel you should find holes in it for the sun visor fixings.
Regards

Ditto, I am positive that sun visors would be fitted from new, but of course the car may have been restored or had a new headlining fitted. They can be quite annoying in that they have a tendency to drop down due to the way they are made.

Hi everybody,
as you are speaking about the roof header panel, it is exactly the piece still missing on my serie 1 FHC, so i am sending here again a message to anyone who would have one spare at home...???
Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
Marc

its quite a thin panel and rather fragile in the centre where the mirror bolts, thats okay because it is only a cosmetic trim piece but - I had to cut out rust and repair it. FInding one may be a bit of a challenge. You could as an interim, get away with not having one and instead trim the panel welded into the roof. it would naturally not be a perfect solution but better than nothing and you could retrofit the panel when you find one.

Hi Maikel,
i am very interested in your roof header panel, is it compatible with a serie 1 FHC?
Please let me know with PM how much you want for it.
Read from you soon, many thanks!

Hi everybody,
still Re: Sun visors on the series 1 fhc, i have seen that the chromed metal pieces (fixed through the header roof panel) holding the sun visors are extremely expensive, only on special order from the usual providers. Do you know of a cheaper alternative, maybe from another car with some modifications? I could survive with something not 100% authentic for that kind of detail...
