The 'E' Type Forum

When I bought my car it came with a large folder of paperwork containg lots of pictures of rust being excised, bundles of receipts/bills and old MOT's etc. It also came with a Service Manual and an E type Operating, maintenance and service book containing a maintenance chart...hoorah. Both have proved very handy.
I had been given, as a fun present long before I got my car, a 4.2 E type and 2+2 booklet (brown cover) which I know is a reproduction as it has an ISBN no at the back and is produced by Brooklands ltd with kind permission from Jaguar cars. The back of the green service manual also has a page stating "reproduced by Brooklands ...etc" . No problem as it is a very useful tome and in pristine condition....don't thing the PO used it much.

Anyway I had assumed the E type Operating, maintenance and service book I got with the car was also a reproduction. I was peering at it this am for other reasons and noticed (a) it is ever so slighty smaller than the 4.2 copy I have and (b)there is no mention of Brooklands anywhere.
It has a grey cardboard type cover and says "Printed in England by W. W. Curtis Ltd, Coventry" inside the back cover and is Publication E/122/5. I am still assuming it and the chart are reproductions as they are immaculate but I am just wondering if they actually be original? Anyone out there know for sure?

W.W. Curtis was the publisher of the original Operating Manuals...it sounds like you have the real deal.

From the article in the E-Type Club magazine of January 2016, E/122/5 was the fifth version of the S1 3.8 manual issued with cars from May to August 1964 and was the last version.
A 1962 car would have had a version 2 one up to September 62 and version 3 after that.

The maintenance chart that came with the E/122/5 should have the print code as a date on the bottom RHS as 5/64.
The charts with the earlier manuals would have either 11/61 or 10/62
All with W.W.C., Coventry on them as well

Thanks both. Peered at the chart. Not a mark or stain on it so I reckon it has not been unfolded in decades. It has E/122/6 and has a 1/66/2m date? so presumably it and the booklet do not match either but no matter. I am really rather amazed they are probably the real deal as you put it. I know the car changed hands several times in the 80's so assumed any original stuff would long since have vanished....presumably the previous owner who bought the car in the early 90's managed to lay hands on an original booklet, all be it a slightly later version than would have been with the car from new....best I look after them carefully

the 122/6 with the 1/66 2m grease chart is a "SPARE PARTS" of the JAGUAR SPARES DIVISION printed in January 66 with 2.000 copies. These have never been supplied originally with a car but could be purchased later in case of loss. There is an even later reprint by Jaguar 122/7 and the charts indicates 1/70 2m January 70 with 2.000 copies

Both are original JAGUAR parts printed by the correct supplier.

Again, as those were never ever originally consigned with a car they would add no value to it in a correct concourse but of course are much more original than the modern reprints.
