Apologies if this has been discussed before (I've tried unsuccesfully to find an answer searching the Forum), but I was wondering if the engraved numbers on this part are related at all with chassis or body numbers. They definitely do not correspond to my Heritage Certificate:

Best wishes and Merry Christmas!

The numbers in the web of the wishbone are casting marks. I do not know what the "03" stamped near the ball joint it but it has probably been done by someone post factory.

AFAIK there are no numbers on wishbones that correspond to chassis number.

Most of the castings have a casting number, which indicates the raw casting part before machining, possibly even the pattern number.

The stamped numbers could be post manufacture, but they may also be grading marks. I've often wondered how they set the various shims in the suspension/ball joints at manufacture. They may have had go/nogo gauges for sorting parts into tolerance groups before final assembly, but I doubt they would have stamped the numbers.
