I am currently in the process of converting a 4.2 folding luggage board back to 3.8 specification which involves relocating the luggage levers and the outer rails which on a 3.8 sit much closer to the inner guards.
My car's is VIN 886763 with a build date of September 1962 therefore should have the 2 piece luggage mat.

Having plugged up the recessed holes in the plywood where the luggage levers were located and before letting rip with my router on the new holes I am trying to make sure my information is correct. Having looked at another Jaguar Club members 3.8 FHC here in Melbourne the measurements (from the tip of the centre rail) to the centre of the luggage lever is 205 mm and from this point to the centre of the outer rail is 231 mm.
In other words this is suggesting that the inner rails are closer together than the outer ones which seems a bit weird.
I have looked at the Factory Fit pictures of the gunmetal and blue 3.8 FHC's which to me seem to have the luggage rails equidistant which is the reason for this enquiry.

There seem to be have been lots of running changes as the 1963 J30 Parts Catalogue contains no less than 3 part numbers for the luggage board on 3.8's alone with further changes on the 4.2. Obviously the main change would have occurred in May/June 1962 with the adoption of mass production tooling but the other one I have no idea about.

Any advice or information greatly appreciated.

Cheers
