Hi everybody,
do you know of any alternative to the poor quality refab from the usual providers for the window mechanism? I already got two, first broke instantly, second was completely blocked, third never arrived, probably temporary unavailable or too many concerns, so the provider is on "wait and see" position?

Hello Marc,
They are available on ebay here in the U.S. quite often.

I have a RHD UK S1 and the drivers side has a worn tooth or two(bit like the owner)
The passenger side is fine ...I guess This happens a lot due to increased use?
So I guess sourcing from the US is a great solution as they have the opposite problem. perhaps we should arrange a mass swap a cross the pond ?

Hi Robbie.....never worked on these mechanisms but could it be possible to build up with weld or weld in new metal and file/cut new teeth... Steve

Steve : yes, I had a few worn teeth on the "rack" on the driver's side, and I built them up with weld and then reground them to match the others. Seemed to work ok although to be fair Jaguar's winders were never the best in my view, and they are both rather stiff

I’ve heard that weld and grind to shape is a good solution.
It seems the new replacement ones are a prone to bend/distort
I agree they can be stiff but it seems the “jump” when a tooth misses that is the main problem

I have a set of these, but I don't know if they are for coupe or convertible. I think coupe. If someone can give hints on id'ing them i would sell them.

problem was twice within the winding part, not the apparent length with teeth.
Bob, I would be interested in your mechanism for FHC if they are really for FHC.
What is the difference between eerie 1 and eerie 2 for this item?
best regards.
