Anybody know the combined weight of a series 1 4.2 XK engine and gearbox? I need to move one and wonder if it will go in the back of my Mondeo hatchback. Or will I end up wheelying down the road? Not even sure the tailgate will open wide enough to get the engine in hanging on my engine crane?
Thanks, Paul.

Okay thanks. I don't think even the 'Mighty Mondeo' will cope with 750lbs in her boot. Looks like a need to hire a truck of some sort.
Thanks, Paul.

No I'm afraid I don't. I tried driving with a trailer once, it didn't go well

Hi,
I hired a van with enough headroom to get the crane & engine into the back. £50 for the day. Split the g/box off though.

Very good Simon.....on a practical note very important to make sure that once in the van it is secured down and can't fall over or move during transit. A rapid sideways movement while cornering could precipitate very unpredictable van behaviour as well as damaging the engine...
