#1 Front valance oblong plug?

I'm trying to track down the oblong rubber plug that fills the slot below the air intake - I believe the slot is for versions with a hinged number plate for which a rod passes through. Original is completely perished. I cannot see it in the parts book and SNG say it was never available as a spare part. Grateful for any ideas...

Having looked at it, it seems a very high amount of money for what it is (given postage would then be on top). Perhaps an enterprising member could fabricate something for a fraction of that price that the other few thousand of us owners could then buy and fit!

I would think myself lucky that someone actually has them for sale....the finishing touch for a £100k car....and far better value than a silmilar size keyring for £1k.....Steve

I'm with you Steve... I think it's fantastic that you can get little trim items like this. I bought it and (with a bit of trimming) it fits perfectly.

You see, that's just the problem.
You have to pay £10 for a small rubber grommet worth about 10p, spend time modifying it to fit and then express your thanks for it being available?
In which universe does that make any sense whatsoever?
If they have tooled it specifically for that application then, yes, it will be reasonably expensive to buy but surely you should have an expectation that it fits straight out of the box.
I have a lot of respect for SNGB and the rest of the suppliers but they could at least get the fit right!
How long does this have to endure?
Exasperated.

I admit to be guilty here, and left the path of orginality.
I simply used my welder and closed the darn hole.
Why? I will never fit that rod nor the mechanism, I‘m going for a stick-on number plate. So, water would enter there, and there‘s no use for it.
After about 5 minutes with my welder....job done.
