Some of the earlier 2+2 cars do indeed have separate door locks below the handles . A 1967 belonging to a friend of mine has them . Later cars it seems had the " all-in-one" lock and handle . Someone ( probably Heuer who has encyclopaedic knowledge of these things

) will be able to tell you when the changeover occurred

My 66 2+2 has separate door locks too.
I remember reading somewhere that the series 1 2+2 were made like this.
I can't think why Jaguar would have done this but I am sure someone on here will know?

Yes that is how the S1 and S1.5 2+2s were done.

My 1966 2+2 also has the separate locks.....but no locks fitted!
I have been trying to find someone who sells them with no luck so far.
Does anyone know where I can get a pair of locks with the internal mechanisms?

Some of the 2+2s have a separate lock.
Helpfully, the replacement door skins don't have the hole for this either.

I’ve since sold my 2+2 but when purchased it had no door lock fitted and no holes ! The body hadn’t long been painted either.
Some very careful measuring took place and holes cut for locks. I think I used those from an MGB - can’t quite remember now. The link between the lock barrel and the door lock assembly is different to the SWB cars but I purchased that from SNG.
