#1 High Beam problem

Only my second post and still getting used to new ownership (1 week and counting) so this may just be me.

Turned my lights on, side and head are all fine. Flasher works no problem but when I flick the headlight switch on the right side of the dash it turns the heads off and I don't have full beam. I am correct in thinking this switch is for full beam. If so, is this a simple problem to fix …. I'm hoping someone has experienced something similar

Cheers Dale

Hi Dale.
You're right in that the R/H side dash switch is the high/low beam selector (RHD).

As you say that the flasher works (i.e. the full beam flashes) that suggests there's a break somewhere between the high/low switch and fuse No.1 . Possibly the cable has become disconnected from the switch, or the switch is faulty.

The switch is relatively easy to extract from the dash, once you have the relevant under-dash panel removed.

Remove the switch and jumper the wires to check if the problem is in the wiring or in the switch. In both my e types I have had what you describe happen and both times it was a failure in the switch. The switch can be taken apart and repaired quite easily or replacements are available.
