#1 Distrubutor Identity

Post by Carajas » Sat Feb 09, 2019 1:25 am

Hello everyone

wondering if you can help ?

havng recently purchased a 1961 car (875425) I am courious of the distributor identificatiom

the number/lettters on the body are DMBZ8A - 40528B - GC68 - 6-59

So I assume the part was manufactured in 1959 - so my question is, is this the original distributor

It strikes me as odd that a 1959 item would be fitted to a 61 car - maybe this distributor came from a XK150 or similar engine ???

Image

Any ideas appreciated

thanks

Tony

40528A/B DMBZ6A 1956-59 Jaguar 2.4 Ltr Mk 2 8:1 CR

The correct one for your car is probably 40617A/D which you can pay a fortune for on EBay.

I've emailled you the ultimate in nerdery; the list of all Lucas dizzies by number. You can compare the two and see how they differ.

Hi Andrew. Any chance you could post the distributor nerdery on the forum somewhere so other nerdy types could get a fix

Hi Julian there is a huge section of Lucas info already in the Knowledge base section....and distributor part numbers are shown in the electrical section of the service manual relating to your model...Steve
