Can anyone in the UK share experiences with new wiring looms. Who supplies the best quality?. Who supplies the easiest wiring diagram?. All advice would be appreciated.

Autosparks are far and away the best for looms - the field is very small anyway now
The best wiring diagrams come from Coventry Auto Components 0247 647 1217
e mail
sales@xkparts.com . These books split the circuits down by function, such as panel instruments , starting , fuel , lighting, signalling , fuse boxes etc

There are also colour wiring diagrams in the Forum Knowledge Base which can be blown up to A3 size and laminated.

I purchased one from Autosparks recently and I also purchased the Coventry wiring Diagram as well.
The loom is easy to fit and high quality, The price included all this lot and cost about £1k. Lead time is 6 weeks at the moment.
I very nearly did a post about how to lay the loom out in the car, as the wiring diagram does not tell you, it is pretty straight forward though. You will need to buy some female bullets, single and double as well.
The instrument panel daisy chain for the instrument lights is not available, so you may have to use your old one.

Hi James,
Do you mean the red/white daisy chained wires ? If so, they came in the 'sundries' pack as part of the autosparks full loom kit for my s1 3.8.
regards
Richard

Excuse my ignorance David, but do you just print on A4, then take it to a print shop to get blown up?

Or email them the file directly. If that is a problem put it on a memory stick and hand it to them.

Hi Andrew,
Have you found other suppliers in the UK that sell Autosparks looms cheaper than buying direct?.
Thanks

I've bought a number of looms over the years and have never bought direct from AutoSparks. I do use them to source wire, connectors etc that the usuals don't stock. They are an excellent resource for this.
SNG Barratt are usually cheaper for looms. I can't speak for Manners with regards to looms because I don't think I've bought one from them.
If you want a custom loom though it is worth dealing with AutoSparks direct. They will make a loom to your specifications, adding or removing stuff as you require.
The other thing worth knowing is that if you ask Barratts and Manners for a discount they usually will give you one. I get 10% off on most things but they will offer this to anyone I think.
When I did this I told them that I was starting a complete restoration. Which was true as I'm now on my 4th.

Hi Justin...worth noting that with SNG you get a discount for car club membership....whats really good with their web site is once you register with them the prices displayed are with your discount already deducted.....Steve

Hi
I’m only upgrading one bit of my ‘62 OTS...I’m swapping the dynamo to alternator(probably a dyno look a like one)
My question relates to the charging/regulator wiring changes:
Does the wiring loom change much?
Is it best to have a custom made/altered loom from autosparks OR just get a standard on and alter it as I fit it?
Anyone done this or can advise please?
Robbie
