Is the Series 1 4.2 2+2 engine the same as the Series 1 4.2 SWB engine or are there any difference like Head, etc?.

No difference to my knowledge. Assuming the 2+2 isn’t an auto.
Series 1 FHC purchased 50 years ago. Courted my wife in it.
Series 1 2+2 when the kids were small now sold.
Series 1.5 OTS in opalescent maroon, Californian car. My retirement present.

I’ve never had an auto but to my knowledge it would only be flywheel onwards. Crank will be the same.
Head is the same .
All assuming it’s a genuine e type engine of the same age and not that from other XK engined vehicles.

Some 4.2 are 8:1 and some 9:1 compression ratio.......so you need to check.......engine number
