Hi,
I have a -63 Cpe, 888091, and are about to install new Harduras in the rear compartment. Previously there was a mat that looks it came from a bedroom floor!

How do I secure the rails? The Hardura have push buttons in the corner, and I can´t understand if I should screw the rails to the board or just secure them to the Hardura?

Obviously my mind says screws, but then why the push buttons in that case? If secured just to the Hardura, what schould I use to secure the rails?

I have tried searching the forums without success.

Also, should I use a hole in the cover over the spare tire to be able to lift it up? If not how do I lift it up when everything is done, and I am on the road?

Thanks in advance!

Mikael

The rails are secured to the hardura only, and from recollection there is a kind of staple which achieves this. The hardura has the push buttons in each corner to secure it to the boards. If you search this forum , there have been several discussions about this which may give you the answers you need

here is a link which should help

I did this last year as part of my’63 fhc restoration.
These are the original fasteners that fix the rails to the hardura. They weren’t available new from any of the usual suppliers so I had to use the nearest ‘bifurcated’ rivets where the originals were unusable.

Afraid I cheated and used small metric nuts and bolts! The firing squad will be here tomorrow

I used plastic "Christmas tree" fasteners as described in photos in this related thread on Jag-Lovers.

They're not the right one in the sense that they're not what was used originally but they will do the job. Brass ones would be better though.
