Hi guys,

Was I dreaming when I thought that I have seen a spare part for the early glass bottle type windscreen washer units? I am looking for the suction part made out of clear plastic which sits in the washer liquid and contains the impeller?! I thought I have seen it somewhere some couple of months ago...

I know, you can buy a complete new unit or the motor including lid and this suction part from e.g. SNG. But I want to put together some authentic units with the original motor, the right connectors with a matching date stamp on the motor, etc.

Anyone an idea, if this bit is available or planned to be reproduced somewhere?!

Cheers for any answer!

Stefan

I don't think anyone produces reproduction parts for the Lucas 2SJ Screenjet washer. You will have to buy used units from eBay and butcher them for parts although given many suffer from the same problems (burnt out motor, broken impeller) it could end up being an expensive project!

Thanks David,

The problem, not sure if the repro SNG unit (motor, lid and nozzle, if you can name it as such) can be used to replace the "nozzle" at original units.

I do have two excellent, complete units, but with both, the plastic at the bottom is brittle and has cracks or is already broken.

Well, let's see....

Cheers

I had to repair mine as the spigot where the impeller connects to the tube had crumbled away. The rest seemed ok though so I thought it worth saving and I couldn’t get any new or second hand parts. New versions were expensive and didn’t look the same. So I drilled out the impeller output and made a new spigot from s/steel micro tube. I refurbed the motor and all works well. It’s even got the original blue bung.

Hi Richard,

I am awfully sorry as I did not respond. The topic slipped as I had some family affairs (my mother had to move into an house for elderly people after her collapse).

This is an excellent idea and at least with one exactly the issue. I just started to try to get one going. Let's see how far I get. My first running motor (I do have a couple) will not move the impeller for whatever reasons. The other one is completely burnt...

Thank you again for the really valuable idea.

And apologies again for the very late response.

Cheers

Stefan
