#1 rear brake calipers

hi guys
i have dunlops all around on my S1 2+2
they are all leaking allover .
i purchased fronts upgraded ones off SNG and they fitted fine.

cant find anything for rear thou.
if i buy pair of reconditioned Girling calipers off the ebay, would they fit my car?

You could get the original fronts overhauled and fit to the rear which will help keep the system in balance if the fronts are upgraded. I think Angus offers a overhaul service with s/s inserts.

also- would front calipers fit to the rear without any modification?

Yes, Zeus are very good. I have had them all round on my FHC for the last 20 years and 50k miles with no problems. Maybe cheaper than getting originals refurbished.

My rear caliper pistons on original S1 calipers are in need of renewal with one perhaps beyond a simple rebuild. I read here and a couple other threads that I can fit the original Dunlop front pistons to the rear. Before upgrading to Wilwood Dynalites in the front I had the original Dunlops sleeved in stainless.

They've been laying in storage for about 15years and I was wondering if this was a simple swap out or if more is involved?

Do I need to change the master cylinder for the rear if I move the 2 1/8" front pistons to the rear?

Is an adjustment of the bias needed and if so how would that be accomplished?

If you have Willwoods on the front putting the larger original front cylinders on the rear will actually bring your brake bias back closer to what it should be with a stock system.

The cylinders will simply bolt on and replace your old ones.

I doubt you will even notice the difference in brake travel with the stock master cylinder.

So yes, this is definitely a good idea.

Having the front pots refreshed and installing in rear calipers with TRW ceramic pads.
Thanks for info. I’ll do a quick update once done. Holidays will likely delay the process.
