I have a 1965 Series 1 4.2 OTS. It does not have the correct jack nor a "bolt" to hold down the spare wheel. Can anyone tell me (pictures appreciated) what the jack and retaining "bolt" should look like as I would like to try and source them.

Many thanks

I can't tell you about the jack. The hold-down device is a near right angled handle with each limb about 5 inches long with a captive but loose plate on the vertical threaded portion. This plate bears against the inner hub flange of the inverted wheel and when the handle is tightened , secures the wheel to the base of the boot

Jack is made by Metallifacture and is usually painted blue and looks like this:

There should also be a matching ratchet handle and a bag to hold them. The jack for the S2 & S3 cars is different.

Spare wheel is held on by this:

Make sure you buy the correct length spare wheel retainer as well - there are 3 different lengths that I know of and only 1 fits the E Type wheel.

Early E Type jacks are different again. Such as that with my '62 which is similar to the one pictured except that the handle is integral and reversed by means of a ratchet lever.

I believe that the very first cars came with a screw bottle jack.

The jacks are date stamped as well.

Hi all,

quick question (as I want to restore my original jack):
How do you know the colour was blue ? Mine looks grey as colour. Any thoughts ?

many thx as always
cheers
Erik

PS Steve, on the price for a jack you probably never going to use, I agree with you to a certain point. Nevertheless, since buying and driving my etype, I feel my "reasonableness" senses have deteriorated increasingly fast and my emotions are getting the better of me. Right now I am on a mission to restore my car as far as I can into its original state and just paid 40 Euros for two missing cheney clamps, go figure ! : )
