:helpsos:
I have a 1963 3.8 etype with oil cooler .
I have changed the engine oil ( unfortunately) I dont take notice the pressure before.

anyway now with new oil , once I start and rev a bit the engine pressure goes up to a little bit more the 20 , while driving it goes just close between 20 and 30 , but while in traffic it goes down to 10 . is this normal please?

You should have 30psi at idle and 40 to 50psi at revs.

Before you lose too much sleep connect a mechanical oil pressure gauge and measure what the oil pressure actually is. The original sender units are notoriously inaccurate.

I had the same problem on my 655 car. Was told could be weak oil pressure relief spring. Changed but no better. Put on wet gauge and had factory spec pressures. Turned out to be the gauge. Best advice - don't do anything major until you have checked the pressure with a wet gauge.

Definitely,

Mine register 60 psi warm, on a run on a Bourdon gauge and 25 psi in exactly the same conditions with electrical gauges and different senders.

At least the electrical gauge set up gives the same level of inconsistency, just shame the arrow doesn't hit the right spot!
