Does anyone know if the 24" x 12" sound deadening pads fitted inside early car door skins are still available?
It was a sheet of tar like stuff covered in small holes/ indentations.

Yes it is.
From your local motorfactor in white boxes.
I use loads.
Comes in 2 sizes, strips or squares.
It is self adhesive and bends very nicely using a heat gun.
Cuts with scissors. great stuff.
Is is quite heavy too, for dampening.
And its cheap.

I've not seen the original perforated bitumen stuff but I haven't looked too hard.
We use Dynamat, or any of the cheaper knockoffs.
For the doors I usually spray a coat of contact adhesive onto the door skin first as otherwise it can peel down with a combination of heat, vibration and time.
