Hi Gents and Ladies,

Please see below a picture of a chromed part for which I cannot remember its purpose. I strongly suspect it attaches to either the inlet or exhaust manifold! Can anybody help with its identification please - many thanks

It looks like it might be the dip stick retaining clip that bolts to the rear exhaust manifold studs. Mine is only attached to one of the studs though, it looks like yours goes across two??

Other than that, no idea and Ive handled all the parts on my car!

Don't think thats E-type - not a 6 cylinder anyway. Looks like a bonnet prop carrier for some other car.

That’s not a part I recognise from my S1 rebuild. It’s not the dipstick bracket from a six cylinder, and I’m fairly sure it’s not one of the clips holding the return pipe either.
I think this might be another case of the restoration gremlin striking again. It normally hides/moves the most expensive/hard to get part you carefully stored 6 months previously. This time it’s adding random vehicle Parts into the store!

But it’s a nice bright and shiny part so you’ve got to find somewhere for it, somewhere it’ll be seen!

Does it not look close to the right clip?

First of all, the part came off my S1 OTS but many, many months ago. I had written on the ziplock bag what the part was but regretfully, the writing has rubbed off over the time the part was stored while I have been doing the restoration. It isn't the dip-stick clip nor the gearbox breather pipe clip.

It's driving me nuts . I have been going through all my old photos hoping to spot the part but so far, no luck

Anyway, if anybody has a sudden lightbulb moment , please, please let me know.

As it’s for an OTS, then I can only assume it might be from the soft top assembly or the boot, as it does not look like something from a FHC.

If it’s chromed then it’s unlikely to be from the engine bay
It looks like an interior fitting
Never seen that on my FHC

I don't recognise it either from my S1 3.8 OTS (either engine bay or hood assembly). As others have previously posted, it may not have been a correct part fitted prior to your restoration starting.

Hi are u sure it didnt come back from being chromed and is not yours some poor project may be short of it and chrome company will be saying that they gave them it like they do dont worry it does not look like its of importance

Thanks Madjack4 but I'm sure it came off the E-Type! I've gone around all the mountings trying to match up the bolt centres but nothing matches. It looks like it held/supported a rubber pipe but hey ho ..... I'll let it pass for now as I have so much more to concentrate on.

could be the hanger bracket for rubber water hose that runs under the intake manifold?

It looks like its off a Motorbike possibly.
Possibly given back to you in error by the platers, if you used them.
