Hi all
I’m putting my Kelsey-Hayes pedal box back together
All’s fine except I’m not sure where to “set” the brake pedal on the splines on the shaft
Is there a rule of thumb or is there a particular angle I can set it at in relation to the pedal box itself for example (I took it apart some time ago!)?
Any advice gratefully received

Level with the clutch pedal works best Robee. I don't think there is any art to it. I have a couple of 3.8 pedal boxes off the cars if you want a photo.

I guess the clutch pedal resting position is dependent upon the spring so I’ll set that first.

You'll notice the pedal is splined and slotted, and held to the shaft with a bolt that tightens the slot down onto the shaft.

If you loosen the bolt you can push the tip of a screwdriver into the slot, opening it up enough that you should be able to rotate the pedal for adjustment.

As Barrie says the best option is to set it all on the bench and have it level with the clutch pedal.

Hi I have just built my pedal box and after much fiddling I got it right by trial and error. What I found is yes the brake pedal should be at the same angle as the lever that pushes on the cylinder but it is easier to build by putting the opposite end with the bush in last . By the way the pivot shaft I was using was new and I had to grind a small amount of the weld away as it was not seating the spring correctly and that was not letting it through far enough to expose the groove for the circlip.
