Hi,
My series 1 fhc is mechanically v good, but cosmetically a little tired.
I can't afford a full on resto.
It's doors are its worst feature, bubbling on the outside, and leaving a trail of rust crumbs from inside whenever the doors are shut.
I presume new doors are the order of the day?
All words of wisdom gratefully received, a rough idea of cost wOuld also be appreciated.,
Cheers
Fenton

If the doors are original and have not been "doctored" i.e stuffed with filler etc., there is no reason why you cannot repair them at relatively moderate cost by re-skinning them. The last time I bought a skin it was about ?60 so they are probably rather more than that now- checked Robeys and it is about ?120 a side . Even if the frame itself is rusty, this is usually confined to the bottom of the frame and can usually be repaired by inserting a new section and tig welding it . This sort of work is well within the competence of most DIYers as long as you take your time and get someone else to do the welding ( effectively just a few plug welds with a skinning job ) if you are not in a position to do that . This is a much better value operation than new doors which for a pair are well in excess of ?1200
