engine number starting with 7D ending-8 , can this be not its original

am looking at a jaguar etype roadster year 1966 , and its engine number starts with a 7D and ends -8 , any ideas if this is an etype engine please. thank u

7D is from a 4.2L Mk10 or 420G saloon. the -8 or -9 just indicates the compression ratio.
