The later type of radio panel is made of 2 parts:
BD23648 FRONT FINISHER PANEL ASSEMBLY ABOVE GEARBOX TUNNEL
BD23649 Face Panel, for Front Finisher
My question is on the BD23649 Face Panel, for Front Finisher.
Is it wood or metal?
Would anyone have it stripped of the vinyl?
I just checked Haddock, and he seems to indicate that the unused aluminum panels were used - but was it so on all cars??
These were only there on a relatively short run of cars between the aluminum finisher panels and the new 4.2 rectangular large ashtray.

On my June 1964 roadster I'm pretty sure that it was the patterned aluminium panel trimmed in vinyl.
