I thought we could start a thread with Body markings on S1 .38 and then move the essence to the Factory Fit Thread?

#2 Re: Body No and other Crayon Markings on S1
By all means start a thread, but this is not necessarily going to become an indication of guaranteed "factory fit" once every man and his dog gets hold of some old crayons.
Parts such as trim may have been made on a piecework basis, so it would have been common for different workers to mark their own work or to then see some work assigned to a specific car. That doesn't mean a car without such a mark is any less authentic than a car with one.
If your car didn't appear to have "Reservac" badly sprayed onto the vacuum cannister, then you can't make it more original by adding it later.
One day it'll get to the stage where restorers are laser printing old shopping receipts from Green Shield Stamps and dropping them into the real wheel arches for someone to find in ten years time.....
If anyone crayon marks over fresh new acrylic paint, then what should you report?
kind regards
Marek
