S1.25 conversion.
Now got the correct Headlamp Seating Rim from Holden (SNG code: 010.741). Thanks Holden.

So all good....well not quite.
when I offer up the headlamp to the seating rim its sits about 1/2" proud due to the rear connector fouling.
If I remove and push the connector to one side, the headlamp fits
Do I need to swap in new connectors with wires to the side?

What make of headlamps are you using? The measurement from the reflector edge to the tips of the bulb connectors must be no more than 3". More info: viewtopic.php?p=34790#p34790

Lucas with Halogen bulbs that came with the Holden kit
I also have a sealed beam lucas from the 1.25 install.

I'll check the link and measure

Here you go
@3" from the top of the locating lugs to the tip of the spade connectors
Does that make them too deep?
If so, what would be the ref's of the correct depth lamps?

Thx

I use the Wipac headlamp units. You need to measure from the rim not the attachment points as you show in yoiur photo. It has to be less than 3".

Cibie vs Wipac:

Thanks Heuer,
If you have a ref. number for the Wipacs I'll see if I can pick up a pair.
Again fooled by the S1 Holden light kit that included Lucas lamps with the 3.5" depth.

I may as well follow this through and then can use both types...

Found some old connector harness sockets with side entry wiring.
trimmed the length of the sealed beam spades slightly. Still very tight.
Also dismantled a connector and could shrink wrap the insulation. They clear the backing bowl completely
(Was going to use the old sealed beam units till I remembered that they were LHD)
That's my workaround option.

Next logical step, removed connectors from block
Heat shrink insulation
bent the connector ends 90 degrees
trimmed H4 bulb terminal length by about 1mm
bent the headlamp seating ring tabs x3 down so that the chrome trim ring sat snugly without moving
All good

May add this connector set before I assemble.

Exactly what I did Eddie. I bought the Holden S1 kit as it was advertised as specially made for S1 cars, designed to overcome the problem of the headlamp not fitting the indented bowl. How did they make it fit? By simply bending the bulb mounting flange so the bulb went in cockeyed. A bodge in other words. So I discarded the white cubic nylon connector, fitted individual spades to the wiring, straightened the bulb flange, and bent the terminals over, just as you have. Much better.

Thanks Jeremy. Really appreciate you confirming.
Was worried I might hit clearance issues again when I set the headlamp adjustment
